Welcome to my Blog.

Hello guys,

My name is Sarah Ajiri Ikogba. I'm from delta state, southern Nigeria. This is my first blog so you can call me a newbie😄
I've always enjoyed writing especially short stories. My friends do tell me I have a very creative and imaginative mind.

I started writing stories in primary two. My Dad used to write short stories too, I would read some of his works and rewrite them into my own book although I'd change the names of the characters. It became a habit until I started writing stories on my own. As a blogger I will like to address some life issues in story form and document some of my thoughts.

The major reason why I'm blogging is because I enjoy writing and getting people to read what I've written gives me great pleasure.

AjiriSays is all about the thoughts of the 21st century young adult. I'll be posting about facts, misconceptions, fears, dreams, short stories, the-whys and so much more about
 us.

The average young adults today are different but not for the reasons you might think. We get misunderstood on a regular basis and this is really sad.

The first time I sent my work out for review, it was a novel. The title was "Bitter sweet symphony" and people who I didn't even know started to text me, I was overjoyed. It greatly encouraged me to continue.

My eyes would literally light up when I see a heartwarming comment. Although I had some negative remarks, it helped and made me know what I wasn't doing right.

So don't hesitate to comment on my post. Feedback is 100% appreciated. I'd welcome your opinions and disagreement, your honest remarks on my posts. You could also email me if you have questions, suggestions or complains.

I'll be posting atleast twice a month between 8-11pm.

One thing I wish to achieve with this blog is to be able to communicate with lots of people around the world and I'm certain that as long as I'm passionate about what I'm doing, AjiriSays will grow tremendously but I can't do it all alone.

So, please, keep clicking and sharing the links I send out every month and don't forget to leave a comment and I promise to keep you entertained.

Aj Loves you💕

Is Birthday depression a thing?

With my birthday approaching, I just can’t help but talk about this. Yes, Birthday depression is a thing.   The feeling is not pleasant I must say,  It entails  feeling lonelier on a day you are meant to feel loved, cherished and appreciated ,   e specially when it appears  as t he only day you get noticed , feeling like a burden to your friends and family, feeling sad, underachieved, less enthusiastic as the days roll by, feeling anxious beforehand and on the day itself. Yes, that is birthday depression. It is certainly not a good feeling, honestly. Over the last decade, I think I have only really felt that birthday vibe twice and that was 2020 and 2021. It was like the first time I felt loved by a lot of persons and it felt so genuine, the thoughtful gifts I got, the heartfelt messages, calls and everything.  I honestly didn’t want the day to come to an end.    So why do birthdays come with so much anxiety/depression?   • Too much attention...

Five things people notice about you!

"First impression is the last impression" they say. Hmmmn, while I do not agree with this one hundred percent, to some extent it is.  You meet and interact with different people everyday. Sometimes, you easily connect with someone you are meeting for the first time  and it feels like you've known each other for ages. However, that is not always the case.   Have you ever caught someone staring at you for more than normal? Does it tickle your fancy?  People stare at YOU for so many reasons. I have carefully penned down, FIVE picked out reasons people are staring at you. Stay with me as we check them out. The number one on my list is 'the shape of your head' 😄 I'm so sorry, that wasn't funny was it? Who stares at someone else's head anyways? Maybe I'm right, maybe I'm not but I'm not here to talk about the shape of our heads. Might as well discuss this later. Keep your fingers crossed.😁 Do people stare at you admirab...

Misconceptions concerning relationships.

Hello Guys🖐🥳🥳🥳  Who missed me? Okay, so one of my new year resolution was to get consistent with my blog and other literary works and believe you me, I was but my mobile phone decided to go bananas on me and hence, the break. It’s been a wonderful year so far, I’ve experienced so much this past few weeks and I’m grateful for the journey so far. I hope you do too😚 I took an interest on this topic because of so many stories I’ve heard and seen.  What exactly is a  misconception ? Well, misconception  is a view or opinion that is incorrect based on faulty thinking/understanding. We say experience is the best teacher but is it truly the best like we say? Wouldn’t it be better if we learnt something before attempting it? That way you’d have avoided the mistakes that came from being ignorant.  Now, straight on today’s topic, below are ten misconceptions concerning relationships that I would like to address and indulge you with. Please keep reading👓 1. I t’s bett...

15 types of people you should never get into a relationship with.

Hello! Hello! Hello!!! Guess who's back with the relationship talk? Yep, moi. I've been itching to write about this topic(Types of people you should never get into a relationship with) for a while now. What I'll be listing down shortly are what we call "Red flags." What exactly are red flags? Red flags can be seen as a cue, warning, alert; a sign or signal that something is wrong. In reality, red flags are something to not be taken lightly because if you ignore them you'll regret later.  Most times people kid themselves by saying stuffs like 'if you love someone these won't matter because they're just flaws and would probably fade after a while', these are lies, illusions they tell themselves maybe because they're scared of admiting the relationship is toxic. In a world where we can't read the minds of others, it's often times hard to predict or know what someone else thinks/feels about us. As humans we are curious to know certain t...

Signs you’re giving someone else power over your life

Hi and welcome to my blog.   As we all know, Nigeria is 61years old today. I’ll spare you the history as majority of us already know how we(Nigerians) Gained independence(Freedom) from the British empire on Oct 1st. I wanted my topic to sync with the independence theme so hence “Signs you’re giving someone else power over your life” Independence simply means the freedom from outside control or influence of others.  Do you allow people make you do things you ordinarily do not want to do, do you get pressured into making decisions, do you allow other people influence the way you feel, act or the things you say negatively? You may be giving them power over you. Let me quickly take you through some of these signs.   1. You find it difficult to set boundaries.  Perhaps you used to have certain rules and boundaries but somehow you no longer do, you just let anyone waltz in and out of your life, you give people the leverage over you on a platter of gold. You’re giving other...

A bucket list of bad habits to quit.

It's been what, two weeks? Oh wow, I've missed you guys so much. A lot of things snatched my attention for a while but I'm here now, all yours😆 Well, I tried fitting everything in here as a single blog post but it got too lenghty and I know how lenghty posts can be a turn off so I decided to split it into parts. Now, some of these things might not seem like a bad habit to you but trust me they are. Bad habits are basically things we do that keeps us from being our best, not so? I'm not going to go on about habits like binge drinking alcohol, smoking and the rest, my major aim is to talk about those simple things we probably might not have noticed before or don't pay much attention to. Here's my bucket list of bad habits to quit. 1. Boasting and bragging about not reading. It might seem cool when you hear statements like "Me and book are not one o" or "I'm not a fan of reading" most times when we say stuffs like this in publ...

New year, new plans?

Le t me start by saying merry Christmas in arrears. I’ve been super pumped about this holiday and I’m certain you’ve had a tremendous experience, yes? Anyways, it’s the season of giving and I’m so excited to be writing the last blog post for 2021. This is an amazing time of the year and I want to use this medium to say a very big thank you to everyone who has engaged in this space since I started. Y’all are the real MVPs😘   I honestly didn’t want to sound cliche, that’s why I’m not going to start going on and on about resetting and implementing new goals and plans which is a very great thing to do, don’t get me wrong. Instead I’m here to advise you to focus on using 2022 to continue that great goal could be a business, a skill etc that you’ve got going. Rather than changing course entirely, put more effort into whatever good stuff you’ve got going.  It should be a continuation rather than a reset . Most times a lot of us feel a new year should be about an entirely new thing w...

Phobias you might never have heard of.

Fear they say is uncontrollable. Every human being is afraid of something one way or the other. The root cause is mainly traced to one's childhood. Is fear really? uncontrollable You'll find out as you keep reading. Phobia is an irrational or obsessive fear or anxiety, usually of or about something particular. Phobia could range from fear of water, dolls, insects, clowns and even adults. Usually, the source of these fears poses little or no danger. The difference between normal fear and phobia is the degree of anxiety involved. In this post, I'll be showing you some phobias you might never have heard of. 1. Nomophobia 'No MObile PHOne phoBIA' (Fear of being without your mobile phone) This is a psychological condition where half of the population suffers from this. According to a survey sponsored by SecurEnvoy, statistics showed that young adults and adolescents are more likely to suffer from Nomophobia. The same survey showed that 77% of the teenage...

Here’s why self pity sucks

Hey you! It’s your favorite blogger. Ajiri aka Aj😉 I’ve asked several persons what they think self pity means. The truth is not everybody knows the difference. Most times we misunderstand the difference between sadness and self pity.   While sadness is normal and lasts for a short period of time, self pity is an excessive self absorbed unhappiness one feels over their own troubles. This type of sadness is exaggerated. For example, a person may feel terribly bad for their misfortune and instead of doing something to move forward or change their situation they would just feel so sorry for themselves, instead of getting up and being optimistic, they remain hopeless and blame other people or circumstances for what could be happening to them.   The number one reason why self pity sucks is because we never take responsibility for our actions. Someone or something is always the reason for a misfortune. It is never our fault, hence we do not deserve whatever has happened and yes, we ...

A must read before you check into 2021.

It's the most wonderful time of the year, no doubt. Merry Christmas in arrears Lovelies. I assure you I didn't run away, school and exams happened.😁 I had no plans of making a blog post until next year but I knew that was me procrastinating again, so here I am guys. During the week, I observed how negative people behave and I realized it robbed off on me in some ways. I found myself saying "This has got to be the ' dryest ' holiday." I asked myself why I loved this festive season so much as a kid. Was it because of the songs, the gifts, the mood of the festive period or just getting to see loved ones and spending time together? Hmm. There's no doubt how challenging this year was for everyone. The corona virus which was accompanied with a lockdown affected relationships, businesses and institutions. However, we came out stronger, better and that is enough to be grateful. The festive season is all about gratitude and expressing love.  I'll quickly take ...
